The weather forecasters are corrupt! The weather is not 85! When your hair sticks to your neck and your clothes are glued to your skin, you know it’s sweltering and steaming hot. There was steam on the Kids Club door and a haze that covered the room filled with 120 kids. That’s just plain hot!

Med Clinic turns surgery center (Amanda sutured a laceration above the eye of a little boy)
Last night our team ventured out in Tuk Tuks to a restaurant on the streets of Cambodia. Just imagine, no streetlights, no traffic signs or lanes and no organized flow of traffic. What an experience!! Cars and motorbikes (and fumes) were surrounding us. Thank goodness our Tuk Tuk driver had lots of experience. At the restaurant Kyle and Angelica were our adventurers and allowed a Tarantula to climb up their arm. The menu consisted of fried red ants and deep fried Tarantulas….thank goodness we found something Khmer to fill our stomachs. We also drank coconut water, straight out of the coconuts.
Today at Kids Club the team taught about the story of Jesus’ twelve disciples. We were able to teach the kids that God wants everyone to be a disciple no matter who you are or what you can/cannot do. All of the kids love singing songs and doing the dance moves and it is amazing to see how their faces light up when they are praising God (in English and Khmer!) Ratanak the pastor has his own volunteers for kids club that he calls disciples and they are local kids/teenagers who come to help and love on the kids about every day. It is very awe inspiring to see how thankful and hard working all of the volunteers as well as kids are with what they have and is a very good lesson that we can take home with us.
Don Brewster led a tour of the village of Svay Pak and showed us the training center where shirts and 3-strand bracelets are being made by girls who have been rescued. We saw the pink room and the transformation of a brothel to a safe place of residence for the girls. Little by little this Vietnamese village is transforming from evil to restoration. It’s amazing how many families and kids are finding refuge with the presence of AIM in their community.
